PHOENIX Logo "a mythical bird that never dies, the phoenix flies far ahead to the front, always scanning the landscape and distant space. It represents our capacity for vision, for collecting sensory information about our environment and the events unfolding within it. The phoenix, with its great beauty, creates intense excitement and deathless inspiration".

Master Lam Kam Chuen.

Welcome to Phoenix Human Services Association!! We are a multi-service, community social services agency with a passion for and dedication to serving persons in need. Phoenix is a relatively young agency, in the sense that we have been a non-profit society for about two and a half years. However, Phoenix is a successor to a for-profit agency that provided services in the Victoria region for about 20 years or so. So despite the newness of the agency, we have tremendous depth of skill and experience in our front line, administrative support and management staff. What’s more, we now have the benefit of an experienced, well educated and dynamic Board of Directors who govern us to provide services in an ethical and respectful manner.

The programs that we offer are all longstanding, most having been well established in the community for more than a decade, some considerably longer. The agency provides two streams of services both funded by different branches of the provincial government. More than half of our services are in the Child and Family Services stream and are entirely funded by the Ministry of Children and Family Development. Within Child and Family Services, staffed by approximately 32 full and part-time counsellors, we offer the Family Development Program and the Mental Health Outreach Program. The second stream of services that we provide are the Community Living Services (CLS) funded by the provincial crown corporation, Community Living British Columbia. We employee roughly 60 full-time, part-time and casual community support and child, youth and adult workers to support individuals with developmental disabilities. The programs offered include the Children’s CLS Program, the Adult CLS Program and Adult CLS Day Programs.

Phoenix is an accredited organization having received a 3 year accreditation award in June of 2007 from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
